Introduction
Zoo Inbox ("we", "us", "our") provides tools to help you automate and manage customer messaging
on Facebook Pages and Profiles. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it,
where we store it, how long we keep it, with whom we share it, and what rights you have when using
the Zoo Inbox Chrome extension, web application, and related services.
2
Categories of Data We Collect
We group the information we process into the following categories. The exact data depends on the
features you use and the information available in your conversations.
2.1 Account and Contact Information
- Email address
- Name or display name
- Password hash (we never store your plain-text password)
- Subscription and billing information (plan type, payment status, invoice identifiers).
Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are not stored on our servers.
2.2 Data from Connected Platforms (Facebook Pages / Profiles)
When you explicitly connect a Facebook account, Page or inbox to Zoo Inbox and trigger
synchronization or automation features, we may process:
- Inbox metadata: conversation IDs, participant IDs, Page/Profile IDs, message timestamps,
message status (sent, delivered, read), tags or labels.
- Message content: text you send or receive, which may include names, phone numbers,
addresses, and other personal data you or your customers choose to share.
- Attachment metadata: file names, file type, size, and identifiers or links provided by
the platform for attachments.
- Configuration and campaign settings: message templates, sending schedules, filters,
rules, tags, campaign names, and notes you create in Zoo Inbox.
- Contact and audience lists: derived from your inbox, such as display names, profile links,
internal IDs, phone numbers, location or gender where available and supported by the
feature you use.
The extension does not read or scrape inbox data from accounts you have not connected and
does not perform background actions without user intent. Data is processed only to deliver
the messaging and inbox-management features you actively use.
2.3 Technical, Usage and Error Data
- Device and browser information (browser type and version, operating system, language,
approximate region derived from IP address).
- Usage logs: pages visited, buttons clicked, features used, timestamps and referrer URLs.
- Error and performance logs: error messages, stack traces, request identifiers and limited
context to help us diagnose issues. These logs do not contain your Facebook password.
2.4 Cookies, Local Storage and Extension Storage
- Cookies on zooinbox.com and
app.zooinbox.com to keep you signed in and remember
your preferences.
- Chrome extension storage (
chrome.storage / local storage) to store your Zoo Inbox
configuration (templates, filters, campaign settings) and identifiers needed to link the
extension with your Zoo Inbox account.
- Host permissions and cookies on Facebook-related domains, used only to verify your logged-in
session and to automate actions you explicitly trigger, such as sending messages.
3
How We Use Your Data
We use the data described above only for purposes that are directly related to providing and
improving Zoo Inbox. In particular, we use your data to:
3.1 Core Product Functionality
- Synchronize inbox data between Facebook and Zoo Inbox when you request or schedule it.
- Send and schedule messages and campaigns that you configure.
- Filter and segment conversations (for example by phone number, tag, location or gender
when available).
- Manage templates, rules, campaigns and audience lists.
- Export audiences for advertising platforms only when you explicitly request it.
3.2 Service Operation and Security
- Authenticate you and secure your account.
- Detect and prevent abuse, spam and fraud.
- Monitor performance and ensure reliable message delivery.
3.3 Analytics and Product Improvement
- Understand how often features are used and where users struggle.
- Analyze aggregated usage patterns to improve UX and performance.
- Measure the effectiveness of product changes and marketing campaigns.
3.4 Support and Communications
- Respond to your support requests and technical questions.
- Send important service notices (for example security alerts or changes to this Policy).

We do not use your inbox data to build independent advertising audiences,
evaluate creditworthiness, offer loans or for any purposes unrelated to the core functionality of
Zoo Inbox.
4
Storage, Security and Retention
4.1 Where We Store Data
Application and account data are stored on secure servers operated by our hosting providers.
Logs and backups may be stored in separate but equally protected systems. All providers are
required to implement industry-standard security measures.
4.2 Security Measures
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for traffic between your browser or extension and our servers.
- Access controls and authentication for internal systems.
- Regular updates and security patches for software and infrastructure.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work continuously to
protect your information.
4.3 How Long We Keep Data
- Account and billing data are kept while your account is active and for a limited period
afterwards as required for legal, accounting and fraud-prevention purposes.
- Inbox-related data and campaign configuration are kept until you delete them in the app
or close your account (which will initiate deletion of associated data), plus a short
period in backups.
- Logs and analytics data are kept only as long as necessary for security, debugging and
analytics, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
5
Sharing Data with Third Parties
5.1 Service Providers
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with carefully selected third-party
processors who help us operate Zoo Inbox, such as:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers (servers, databases, storage).
- Analytics services (for example Google Analytics or similar tools) to understand website and app usage.
- Error logging and performance monitoring services.
- Email delivery services for transactional and notification emails.
- Payment processors for handling subscription payments.
These providers may process data only on our instructions and for our purposes, and are not
allowed to use it for their own marketing.
5.2 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with
applicable law, regulation, legal process or valid government request, to enforce our Terms
of Service, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Zoo Inbox, our users or the public.
5.3 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of assets, your information
may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you where required by law.
We do not share your inbox content or contact lists with third parties for their
own advertising, profiling or credit-related purposes.
6
Chrome Extension Permissions and Google Policies
The Zoo Inbox Chrome extension requests only the permissions necessary to provide its features,
including host permissions and cookies on Facebook-related domains, storage permissions and
access to the active tab to automate actions you explicitly trigger.
In line with Google's User Data and "Limited Use" policies, data accessed by the extension is
used solely to provide or improve user-facing features of Zoo Inbox, is not used to build
independent advertising profiles, and is not sold or shared with third parties except as
required to operate the service as described in this Policy.
7
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete,
restrict or object to certain processing of your personal data, and to request a portable copy of
your data where technically feasible.
You can update much of your information directly in your Zoo Inbox account, including editing
your profile and deleting campaigns or audience data. To exercise other rights, please contact us
using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our messages.
